Hollie Wilson, LMSW
My name is Hollie Wilson and I went to Iowa State University for a Bachelor’s in Psychology and am a recently graduated social worker from University of Iowa’s Des Moines Social Work Master program. Currently I am an LMSW. I spent the last year as a counselor at Simpson College helping students with mental illness. My specialty areas include eating disorders, especially in people in larger bodies, and clients who are chronically suicidal. Mental illness is hard to deal with alone and I want to help clients through that. There is almost no eating disorder care in Iowa except for individual therapy and even that is hard to find; I want to help!
My clients are typically 17+ years old but I will see younger clients with disordered eating problems if other providers cant be found. I love to work with clients with disabilities and am an affirming provider for LGBTQIA+ community.
As a therapist, I use a lot of techniques and intervention strategies from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as well as emotion regulation techniques from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
