Mary Meyer

Dr. Mary Meyer is the Owner and Executive Director of Full Heart Family Therapy, and she is a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist in Iowa and Illinois. She is a Transpersonal Psychologist, qualitative researcher, and published author. She received a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, CA, and a Master of Family and Consumer Sciences from Iowa State University. She is an ordained interfaith minister through the Sufi Movement International and serves on the board of the Sufi Universal Fraternal Institute. She has been a practicing couple and family therapist for over 15 years.

Dr. Meyer works from a family systems perspective, which emphasizes relationships between people, patterns of interaction, and the context in which they live. She is also very attuned to spiritual issues, including how one relates to their inner world and to life as a whole. She has an interest in working with individuals, couples, and families who are facing challenges or who want to explore greater depths of self-understanding and enjoy greater meaning and joy in their life. She is trained in Imago Relationship Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Developmental and Relational Trauma Therapy (DART), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Hakomi. She utilizes Internal Family Systems, several somatic-based and depth psychology approaches in her work with clients.

Dr. Meyer is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT). She completed her two year post-graduate training in sexual addiction and partner trauma from the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). She has a special interest in the impact of addiction on families and intergenerational transmission of trauma. Through Full Heart’s Enjoy Inner Healing Programs, Dr. Meyer offers Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, preparation and integration of non-ordinary experiences, meditation mentoring, and other depth psychology approaches to healing. She holds a Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and Research Certificate from the California Institute of Integral Studies, and she has training in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy with Polaris Institute. Dr. Meyer is passionate about root cause healing of our whole beings; body-heart-mind-spirit-relationships.
