Jacob Stastny, LISW
As a therapist I strive to create a safe and supportive environment to process emotions and experiences, develop coping and behavioral strategies, and to assist clients in developing a more robust understanding of themselves.
I am a firm believer and practitioner of a person-centered approach. I blend this with various empirically validated approaches, my core approach being Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also incorporate other approaches such as such as EMDR, CBT, play therapy techniques, mindfulness-based interventions.
Primarily I work with adolescents and adults on an individual basis but also provide family-based services.
A few things about me: I graduated from the University of Iowa school of social work with both my bachelors and master's in social work. I have worked and provided services in a number of different capacities including therapy, case management, and in the medical setting.
Along with that, I am a son, brother, husband, uncle, friend, social worker, artist, jokester, philosopher, advocate, biker, fisher, and poet
