Samantha Snovelle LMHC
Observe, Experience, Feel: Relate, Connect, Attune
Welcome to Full Heart Family Therapy. I am Samantha. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I also have the privilege of being one of the Clinical Supervisors at Full Heart where I help continue to train our awesome team of counseling students and therapists.
I have a Masters's degree in Marriage & Family Therapy, bachelor's Degree in pPsychology with a Minor in Women's Counseling Issues and am an Iowa Behavioral Sciences Licensing Board Approved Clinical Supervisor. I am also a Natural Lifemanship Level 2 Certified Equine Assisted Trauma Informed Psychotherapist. I have been seeing patients since 2014 for a variety of Mental Health Concerns with specialties in EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing), Trauma Informed Practices, Equine (horse) Assisted Trauma Informed Psychotherapy and Somatic Experiencing (body and nervous system) work. In addition, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, CBT, DBT, Internal Family Systems, and Attachment Theory to help clients understand themselves, what happened to them and how this impacts their relationships with self, others and the world around them.
I fully believe in the value of relationships in therapy. The ability to form and create safe, nurturing relationships after trauma can be a powerful tool to aid in healing deep wounds in our lives. I work with clients to learn to be more connected to themselves, their physical bodies, sensations, emotions and needs in order to create these kinds of relationships in their lives outside of the therapy office and begin to re-attune to the most important relationship of all, the one we have with ourself. I work well with clients who are motivated to learn, grow, and embrace the change process and primarily work with female clients, individuals, young adults, and adults. I am comfortable and accepting of all walks of life, backgrounds, and orientations (LGBTQIA+ allied). Gentle humor, challenging, acceptance, and grace are all welcomed and a part of my therapy sessions.
My bio may sound stuffy and professional, but I am far from it in person. I seek to live the relational principles I incorporate in sessions and strive to provide a warm, safe, connected, playful, sometimes humorous and open space where feedback and client input is valued in the therapy relationship and with those I supervise. Discomfort is welcomed, including my own, as I continue to learn and grow in the presence of relationships. I look forward to meeting with you and growing together!
